Assassin's Creed Movie?

Michael Fassbender, who has starred in recent sci-fi movies Prometheus and X-Men: First Class, will take on the lead role of an as-yet unnamed assassin as Ubisoft moves to bring its Assassin's Creed franchise to the big screen.

"Michael Fassbender was our first choice (to play the franchise's iconic hooded hero)," Jean-Julien Baronnet, CEO of Paris-based Ubisoft Motion Pictures, said in Variety. "Michael is an extremely smart, talented, versatile and committed actor."

The plot will be similar to the games, where the character learns he is part of a long line of assassins and has been kidnapped by a Templar organization to recover lost artifacts. With each new game having a different hero, it is quite possible Fassbender will play a brand new assassin and not Ezio, Altair, Desmond, or Conner.

Fassbender will also co-produce the film with Conor McCaughan. Ubisoft will develop the film independently, and is still looking for a writer and director. No word yet on who will distribute the film, although Ubisoft was in talks with Sony Pictures as early as October 2011 before those negotiations stalled.

Sounds pretty interesting, just hope it doesn't suck like a certain street fighter movie I'm thinking of.

Yeah, I know, I'm just mentioning it because the movie is bad and it made no sense compared to the game. I guess the writers thought it was a good idea to smoke rocks when working on the film. I say this only to show that you guys probably shouldn't get your hopes too high up for the Assassins Creed film.

I am getting my hopes high because they film people are giving ubisoft power on the film so they dont mess it up.

I'm kinda hoping they don't try to follow the plotlines of the main games directly; it's a story most of us know very well, and any attempt to recreate the story of Altair or Ezio in movie form will never be a good as the experience the game provides. The AC universe is very encompassing, spanning centuries and countries all over the world. There lies many time periods untapped by the games. A creative director that knows the series can create an Assassin anywhere and when in time and craft a whole new story that stills fits the series and pleases both hardcore fans and general movie goers.

Hopefully at some case. Though that would a rare one. Since Hollywood directors tend to pull the strings in their film, to reshape it in their image. Remeber Resident Evil? *shivers* *sigh* Maybe Nolan? Ahh who am I kidding?
